    The Forum Trust

The Forum Trust - Project Purpose - Partnerships - Forum Facts - Forum History - Forum Team

The Forum Trust is the independent, self-financing charitable organisation which manages The Forum building and which is responsible for The Forum’s continued growth and development.

The Trust works with a broad range of partners - businesses, organisations and community groups - to provide new experiences and opportunities both in and around the building and in communities across Norfolk and the Eastern Region.

The Forum Trust is also responsible for the on-going maintenance, staffing and customer care in and around the building. The Trust is independent and self-financing and the commercial activities which help to fund its work are:

    • Income from The Forum Car Park, which is underneath the building
    • Rental income collected from Forum tenant organisations, such as the BBC and PizzaExpress
    • Income generated from hiring out The Forum's space, such as the Atrium, the Auditorium and outside on Millennium Plain
    • Income from advertising and promotional opportunities, including The Forum Event Guide

The Forum is a unique building run by a full time Forum Trust Team, which works together to manage this eclectic mix of commercial activity and community partnership projects. The Forum Trust reports to a Board of Trustees, which oversees the Trust’s work and its strategic development.

In December 2014 The Forum Trust appointed a new chairman to head its Board of Trustees. John Fry, chairman of the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Trust and of Adare Group – and the former chief executive of the Archant media group – formally took over in January 2015. His appointment followed the retirement of Stuart Holmes, who had been chairman of The Forum Trust since 2005.

“I was delighted to take over as Chairman of The Forum Trust, an independent charity which does not rely on any public money. The Trust works in partnership with others to deliver a rich programme of free events and projects. We also look for tenants who can contribute to our project purpose. The Trust is hugely grateful to our stakeholders at the City and County Councils for their continuing support, to our staff for their imagination and hard work and to our many partners who come together for the public good. I am also indebted to our Board who give generously of their own time, for no financial reward.”
John Fry, Chairman, The Forum Trust

    • It is part of Norwich 12, the grouping of individually outstanding heritage buildings spanning the Norman, medieval, Georgian, Victorian and modern eras.
    • It is a member of the Norwich Attractions consortium, which represents many of the popular city attractions.
    • It is a key player in the Norwich BID, which drives initiatives to facilitate the City's economic growth.
