2022 and beyond, by Festival Producer, Jayne Evans.

"March 2022 was the first time The Forum team had been able to organise a proper Makers' Festival since the pandemic. We spread contributors out and and took sensible precautions, but we were delighted to welcome tens of thousands of people through the doors of The Forum to enjoy the creative atmosphere.

"As well as the ever-popular programme of free activities on offer in The Forum's main Atrium, and the fabulous exhibitions around the building, we were once again able to hold ticketed workshops and talks both during the day and in the evenings. The pandemic had put development plans on hold, but at last we were able to expanded into other venues.

"We held an eclectic textile exhibition in St Peter Mancroft Church, opposite the Forum, Young Norfolk Arts Collective organised a market for young makers at the Norwich Arts Centre, and local spinners and weavers worked in the underground medieval ‘street’ below The Shoebox on Castle Meadow, promoting the city’s textile heritage where weavers worked hundreds of years ago.

"Work is now going on to develop Norfolk Makers' Festival further, bring in new venues, partners, crafters and artists. We made this little film during the 2022 Festival which goes some way towards capturing the colour, variety, skills, enthusiasm and joyful teaching and learning that makes our Festival unique."
