Half-Time: The Justin Fashanu Story

7pm - 8pm: Online

Library event

A shared reading session and discussion in partnership with Proud Canaries.

As the first black player to command a seven-figure fee and the first professional footballer to come out as gay, Fashanu broke through two ceilings at a time football hooliganism was at its peak.

To this day, he is still the only professional top-level footballer to come out publicly in England. Proud Canaries are working in partnership with Norfolk Libraries to discuss his life, his legacy, and Norwich City Football Club.

What is Shared Reading?

Shared Reading sessions provide an opportunity for everyone to listen to and read aloud from a wide range of literature. The sessions provide a safe space to discuss difficult topics as well as the opportunity for participants to read from selected excerpts and share their thoughts and experiences.

Never Mind The Danger: A series of Shared Reading

This event is part 'Never Mind The Danger: A series of Shared Reading' sessions and online talks celebrating the lives and achievements of Black Footballers as part of Norfolk Black History Month. Mondays 7-8pm throughout October.
