As part of Silver Wings, we will be collecting oral histories and memories which explore WWII and the American presence in Norfolk during this period.
The Silver Wings Oral History Project will interview and record both Americans and locals, about their memories of the 2nd Air Division, USAAF, in Norfolk during the Second World War.
These interviews will be used as digital content for the Silver Wings exhibition to create learning and engagement experiences for people of all ages. The ten-day exhibition and series of talks at The Forum, will be presented Fri 12 - Sun 21 September 2025 as part of Norfolk Heritage Open Days.
Silver Wings is presented by The Forum in partnership with the American Library, Memorial to the 2nd Air Division, 8th Air Force, United States Army Air Forces.
Silver Wings is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and supported by The Paul Bassham Charitable Trust, The Second Air Division Memorial Trust, The Alan Boswell Group Charitable Trust and Anguish's Educational Foundation.
