It's a new year and we're excited for the year ahead!

2023, Norfolk Makers Festival, Norwich Science Festival, Events

Here’s what to expect…

We’ve got a big year ahead of us – Norwich Science Festival is taking place in February for the first time and Norfolk Makers Festival returns in March. We have incredible exhibitions coming, including Fur das Kind, which shows the trauma and hope of the Kindertransport, as well as our regular markets and fairs. OLL XP comes in late February with a free-entry weekend of gaming experiences.

Plus, we’re also investing in our building and upgrading the loos – as well as installing a new Changing Places Toilet. And that’s all in the first quarter of the year!

Norwich Science Festival is back, and at a new time of year, February half term (11-18 Feb 2023). As always, you can expect intriguing discoveries, inspiring talks, engaging exhibitions, deep dives and debates, cutting-edge research, and lots of hands-on family fun!

The NSF team work hard to ensure the programme has something for everyone, so all ages can explore the wonders of the universe, meet the scientists whose research has changed the world and discover how science influences everything around us.

The Forum will be transformed into “The Explorium” where everyone can explore the world through science. You can drop in between 10.30am–4pm (11–18 Feb) for free, hands-on science fun. There is also a quiet hour from 9.30-10.30am each day you can book onto, for a calmer experience.

You can also find Norwich Science Festival events & workshops taking place at Norwich School and Gresham’s – with opportunities to experience a planetarium, make your own rocket and more!

The full programme and tickets will be available early January – so keep your eyes peeled as these events are very popular and sure to go quick.

The annual celebration of local creativity, Norfolk Makers Festival, takes place 11-19 March 2023, with exhibitions, free activities, inspiring demonstrations, workshops and talks, plus lots of time for crafty conversation!

Everyone is welcome to drop by The Forum to try their hand at something new – no experience necessary and inspiration will be provided to help explore the creative you.

Get ready to discover exhibitions, demonstrations and free hands-on activities, so you can try something different, develop existing skills, meet people, learn something new, and more.

The Makers Festival is for beginners, for experts, for everyone so, why not come and have a go?

Full programme and tickets for workshops will be available early 2023. You can get involved before the festival too…

New year, new loos

Our facilities are getting an upgrade with a new Changing Places toilet installed, and all our existing toilets updated. Changing Places Toilets have an adult changing bench and hoist facilities as well as extra space for carers.

We’re excited and grateful for the opportunity to invest in the building and improve access, so more people can comfortably enjoy what we and the city have to offer.

We're thankful to have received government funding for the Changing Places facility, thanks to a successful bid by Norwich City Council. The refurbishment and upgrade is due to take place from January for several months. Please bear with us as we invest in our building: this is essential work.
