Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library Refurbishment

Norfolk County Council will be carrying out a major improvement project to the library, to make it even more accessible to visitors. This means the library, will be closed from 27 April until mid-July, but the rest of The Forum will be open. The library team will be providing some services and holding events in other Forum spaces.

About the Library

The  Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library, which is owned and managed by Norfolk County Council and based within The Forum,  is one of the most popular public libraries in the UK and home to the Norfolk Heritage Centre,  Business and IP Centre Norfolk, American Library and Early Years  Library

Enjoy tens of thousands of books, music sets and DVDs plus free computer access, printing, photocopying  and a programme  of activities, events and groups  for all ages throughout the year.  

Library FAQs

  • Yes, there are computers with USB ports, word processing, spreadsheet and PowerPoint applications. To use one of the library computers you need to be a registered library member.

  • Yes, you can print from at the library from 20p per page. You can print from one of their computers, or over Wifi from personal devices. Please note you must pay using cash to print.

  • You can use your own device to get online at the library, using their free public WiFi. The network will show on your list of available networks as NCC_Libraries_Wifi

    When you have connected to the network, you will need to log on using your borrower number and PIN.

  • Open Library gives you access to your local library, its books, computers and spaces even when the building is unstaffed using your Library number and PIN. Just talk to a member of library staff and they'll add the extra access to your library card.

  • The Library is located across three floors inside The Forum and there is step-free access to all floors using the Library lift.

    Large print books in fiction and non-fiction are available as well as a range of audio books and other reading aids.

    There are two accessible unisex toilets, a Changing Places toilet and a separate family room including baby change facilities. For more information visit our Accessibility Page.

  • All Norfolk libraries have 'self-weigh' scales, where you can check the weight of your baby or toddler and record it in your red book. The scales are available to use both in staffed time and also during Open Library hours.
