Building News Spring 2023

2023, The Forum Building, Events

Find out what’s been happening, and future plans, for the building.

Lots has been going on behind – and apparently in front of – the scenes at The Forum.

We know you’ve all been missing the toilets, so here’s an update…

We were awarded funding by Norwich City Council to install a Changing Places toilet within the building. The construction team have been working hard to create this accessible space, as well as a total refurbishment of our existing facilities.

Once the work is completed, and official accreditation is awarded, the Changing Place will be open and available to those who need it. People will be able to access it with a key provided by The Forum’s Customer Service team.

We plan to reopen our brand new and improved toilet facilities to the public on 9 May 2023.

We'd like to thank all our visitors, tenants and hirers for their patience while we carry out this essential work which will improve the overall experience and accessibility of the building.

You may have noticed that the works for the Hay Hill project have begun. Events inside and outside the building are able to continue as normal.

Fencing has been installed opposite the building in front of St Peter Mancroft Church and down towards Gentleman’s Walk. There are passing places and walkways in place so you can still access the church and walk up to The Forum from Gentleman’s Walk.

We have some brilliant events and showcases taking place too, including markets and displays during Coronation weekend. As well as the much anticipated Norfolk & Norwich Festival back from 12 May, with street performance around Norwich City Centre including Millennium Plain for the first weekend 12-13 May. More information coming soon!

Our Green Journey

The Forum is on a green journey to become more sustainable. The Forum Trust has appointed a Green Team who meet and discuss ways we can be kinder to the planet and be proactive in instilling changes throughout the company and building.

One exciting development is that we’re installing bird boxes around The Forum to offer native wildlife a safe place to nest, supporting nature within a city ecosystem. Look out for updates on our social media pages.

On 22 April, for Earth Day, we dimmed our lights for one hour from 8.30pm to align with our efforts to invest in our planet.

Our previous, ongoing and future plans & work can be viewed on our sustainability page. You'll probably discover some things you didn't know about The Forum, like the amount of trees we have and care for!
