Film-screening premieres of youth projects

Premiere screenings of two film projects:

• Deaf Perspectives: Past, present and future - In April, young people aged 10- to 25, came to The Forum to take part in a filming workshop with The Offshoot Foundation, exploring the history of deaf technology while imagining what the future could look like. The films they made will get their premieres at Norfolk Deaf Festival.

• Norwich: City of BSL poetry - Helen Vine worked with D/deaf young people and CODAS to create their own poetry in BSL. The project grew from conversations with Matthew Talbott, CEO of Deaf Connexions, who explained how few creative opportunities exist locally for Deaf young people; recognising the need for activities that truly belong to the community, where BSL is not translated but is the artistic medium itself.

  This project was funded by Norfolk and Norwich Festival’s Artist Bursary Scheme and supported by Deaf Connexions, National Centre for Writing and Norfolk County Council.
