Jack Roberts: The Photographer Time Forgot

Jack Roberts was a quiet and modest man who spent much of his life taking photographs of Norwich – a city he loved. These were often of roads, streets and neighbourhoods post World War Two and now long gone. The photographs were first exhibited publicly during Heritage Open Days in 2019.

Following his death, Malcolm Howard who worked alongside Jack at the University of East Anglia Audio Visual Centre, gave his negatives to Norwich Evening News and Eastern Daily Press journalist Derek James.

“Jack would want them to be seen,” said Malcolm.

Now Derek and photographer Bill Smith are informing people about the life and times of Jack Roberts as part of this talk, along with fulfilling Jack's wishes of exhibiting the photographs.
