With Norwich Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace Norwich.

Join Norwich Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace Norwich at The Forum on Saturday 14 March for a special free screening of the animated film "Sauvages" followed by a craftivism bunting-making activity as part of the Planet Over Profit campaign.

The film is an animation about an 11-year-old girl in Borneo who rescues a baby orangutan and, alongside her cousin, faces the destruction of the rainforest by logging companies. The film is a coming-of-age ecological story about protecting nature, identity, and indigenous roots. It will be an English-dubbed version of the film, which is rated PG*.

Feel free to join for both or either part(s) of the event!

Event timings:

  • Auditorium doors 10:00 (time to take your seats!)

  • Event starts 10:15 (with a brief introduction to the film and the PoP campaign)

  • Film starts 10:25

  • Film ends 11:55

[A short time for lunch, please bring your own]

  • Bunting making in the Gallery 12:30 - 14:00

*The film explores difficult themes of environmental destruction and the threats facing Indigenous forest defenders (including murder and forced disappearances), but is done in a heartfelt and at times funny way. It also has very beautiful forest and wildlife scenes which children may find beautiful and inspiring. Ultimately, whether this film is suitable for children will depend on the individual child and their parents or guardians. Children will also need to be old enough to read the subtitles, or follow along without the dialogue.
